Projects
Interactive mobile robotics
I have been involved in many funded projects related to
mobile and interactive robots:
- Robonauta. National project 07-10. (DPI2007-66846-c02-01). I am the IP (research leader) of this project, that works toward a more automated deployment of the robots in new environments by improving both the core architecture and the navigation algorithms.
- RobInt. National project 04-07. (DPI-2004-07907-C02).
This project focused on the emotional part of the robot, looking for an
improved interaction with the users.
- Urbano. National project 01-04. (DPI2001-3652C0201). The initial project in which we built Urbano robot, and developed the initial control and navigation software.
- WebFair. EU project. (IST-2000-29456). Remote access to fairs through robotics avatars
- Guido. 2004. (Research visit in haptica Ltd. Dublin, Ireland. funded by Spanish Ministry of Education FPU programme). I implemented map based navigation in this robot used by the frail blinded elderly.
Other-Industrial
I have also worked (especially in the beginning of my
research career) in other kind of projects, from robotics manipulators to
software engineering and development:
- Simenc: Software simulation tools for testing and validating railway stations control hardware and software. Alcatel. Spain. 2005. Topics: Software engineering CanBus. Distributed systems
- HEROIC: Hydro Erosion for Repairing of Insitu Concrete. Design and development of a 3dof cartesian robot able to erode concrete with high pressure water jet. EU-CRAFT
-
AIM Automation for Inoculating Microorganisms
SmithKline Beecham

- PCB-inspection. PCB inspection 2axis stepper motor table. Computer Science, Trinity College Dublin. Summer 2000. EU-TRM-Mobinet. Topics: Assembling Control of stepper motors Protocols Distributed systems.Corba
