Prof. Agustín Jiménez is Catedrático de Universidad (Full Professor) in the area of Systems Engineering at the Departamento de Automática, Ingeniería Electrónica e Informática Industrial of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. He was born in Toledo, Spain, in 1952, became Industrial Engineer at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Industriales of the U.P.M, and got the PhD degree at the U.P.M. in 1978. His main activities have been in the development and application of advanced control technologies in the area of continuous process control. In particular the main effort is in the integration of artificial intelligence techniques with conventional control applications. He has published several papers and books, being the latest "State Space Control" (in Spanish). His experience in R&D projects is very wide, having participated in several industrial projects, in ESPRIT projects (623, 2202 PLATO, 6447 HINT and 22130 DIXIT) IST projects (10258 DOTS and 29456 WEBFAIR), RTD-Inco 962074 PROQUS and in national founded research projects, most of them in the field of design and implementation of Intelligent Process Control Systems

Prof. Ramón Galán was born in Avila, Spain, in 1956. He became Computer Scientist at the Facultad de Informática of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, and got the PhD degree by the UPM in 1982. Presently he is Full Professor in the area of Systems Engineering at the Department of Automatic Control, Electronic Engineering and Industrial Computing of the UPM. His main activities have been in the area of process control, artificial intelligence, expert systems and computer science. He has experience in several EU funded projects (ESPRIT 623, PLATO, HINT, DIXIT, CIMIS-NET, INCO-PROQUS and IST-10258 DOTS).
 

Fernando Matía

Fernando Matía received the Ph. D. degree from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain, in 1994. Since 1997, he is Associate Professor at the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, where he has been engaged in control since 1988, and in robotics since 1994. His main R&D activities are fuzzy control and mobile robotics. He has experience in European projects, as well as in national research and industrial projects related with the previous topics. From 2006 to 2009 he was Deputy Vice-director of Studies at ETSII, and presently is Vice-Director of Quality Management.

 

 

Diego Rodriguez-Losada

MsC in Mechanics (1999), PhD in robotics (2004), both at UPM. Full time associate professor at ELAI department, and researcher in the Intelligent Control Group, mainly focused in the Simultaneous Localization and Map Building (SLAM) problem, and mobile robotics.

MsC in Electronics (1995), PhD in AI (2004), both at UPM. Full time associate professor at ELAI department, and researcher in ICG, mainly on AI search and optimization problems either theoretical or applied. Additionally a chess GrandMaster, Spanish chess champion in 1998 and member of the olympic team since 1994.
