Methodologies and performance indicators for systems Rail Transport

This research project is part of the planning area and management of rail transport systems. We propose to design a new methodology to model and evaluate anyproposed rail transport in the Republic of Panama with the purpose of determiningthe real strengths and weaknesses from an operational point of view in each of themusing techniques from the fields of planning and automatic control based on modelsof state variables [Cury et al.1980], [SASAM and Ohkawa, 1983], [Araya et al, 1984],[Campion et al, 1985] and [Van Breusegem et al, 1991]. It is also expected to apply a primary index series in the world for the management of the railway lines [Vuchic, 2005]. Also take into account general rules or restrictions related to the topic of planning, such as traffic rules, user requirements and infrastructure topology(configuration) and type of railway trains [Barber et al, 04], [Bergmann, 1972 ].Identify the most relevant variables in railway traffic and to study their statistical behavior [Berbey, 2008].
